Learning how to make an electric car is not as difficult as it may seem. If you have a reasonable amount of persistence and a few household tools you should be able to get the job done rather well.

To get started you will need a vehicle to do the conversion on. We prefer to use small cars or trucks; they seem to work best as they are light yet strong. Balancing the need for batteries (usually about 20) and trying to fit cargo and passengers in too can be tricky, but the detailed plans had lots of suggestions for getting it right.
The batteries and other parts are not that hard to find either, we even found sources of free batteries and free DC motors that we could use too. That saved us a lot of money. After a couple weeks, well... we didn't work at it everyday or that hard either we finally got our EV car conversion done.
We remember the first time we drove by a gas station after we did our conversion. It was so nice to not have to stop and pay for expensive gasoline any more.
